Anne Marie Jehle

Since Novem­ber 8, 2024, the St. Gallen Art Muse­um will offer a focused look at the life and work of the artist Anne Marie Jehle. In an inten­sive cura­to­r­i­al dia­logue with the cura­tor Nadia Veronese and the direc­tor Gian­ni Jet­zer, a pre­sen­ta­tion strat­e­gy for Jehle’s work was devel­oped that places the very het­ero­ge­neous works and col­lec­tions in the his­tor­i­cal rooms of the Kun­st­mu­se­um St. Gallen, con­tex­tu­al­izes and groups them and allows them to speak in their crit­i­cal context.

The rel­e­vance of her work, which reached its peak in the 1970s, is par­tic­u­lar­ly high in the con­text of today’s dis­cus­sions about gen­der and self-deter­mi­na­tion in art. The immense media atten­tion this exhi­bi­tion has received shows how impor­tant the redis­cov­ery of her work is.
