The scenography by chezweitz staged the fascinating world of thought of the Italian intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini as a multimedia landscape. The exhibition’s title was borrowed from the autobiographical poem of the same name, which provided the curatorial structure of 24 themes from the artist’s life and work. Each of these themes was given its own display case, presenting a wealth of documents, photographs, manuscripts, books, and sketches. The angular skyline of the display cases reflected Pasolini’s abrupt breaks and contradictions, evoking associations with the Roman periphery that so captivated him. The scenographic landscape was framed by a horizon on which Pasolini’s text title appeared in a cinematic repetition, simultaneously serving as a backdrop for selected photographs and drawings. As part of this horizon, the film installation by Detlef Weitz and Dominique Müller, first created for the Pinakothek der Moderne in 2005, was shown. This installation offers a spatialized analysis of Pasolini’s cinematic work.
