Baukollegium Berlin

Advise, mediate, convince in a complex construction process

published on 17 October 2016

For more than eight years, Senate Building Director Regula Lüscher has been fighting for a different Berlin building culture with a Swiss instrument. This piece of contemporary building and cultural history is told in the book Baukollegium Berlin.”

Managing the growth of our cities through construction while simultaneously focusing on good urban design requires new forms of cooperation. Numerous examples are used to present the working methods and role of the Baukollegium in building policy, as well as its methodological significance in promoting building culture. In addition to interviews with Regula Lüscher and David Chipperfield, the book contains an essay on the conditions of Berlin building and provides insights into the Baukollegium’s working practices based on eight building project studies.
