Photos of the Soviet prisoners of war murdered in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp 75 years ago
A catalog was created for the exhibition, conceived and realized by chezweitz, which presents the series of images in a complete and high-quality manner. The catalog documents all photos and texts from the exhibition, which was officially opened on November 6, 2016. Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office, as well as the diplomatic representatives of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, and the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the Russian Embassy, were present at the opening.
The press officer of the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation, Dr. Horst Seferens, oversaw the concept of the catalog, which we developed jointly, until its completion in close collaboration with Agnes Ohm.
This book is intended to contribute to ensuring that the mass murder of approximately 13,000 Soviet prisoners of war in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp between September 1 and November 16, 1941, which has so far remained in the “shadow of memory,” receives an appropriate and dignified place in the collective memory.
